OCULOFACIAL PLASTIC & RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

Dr. Monsul was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Drexel University. He completed his medical degree at Hahnemann University, Drexel University College of Medicine. His ophthalmology residency at Yale University was followed by fellowship programs at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Wilmer Eye Institute and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He moved to Florida in 2003.

Dr. Monsul attended Yale University School of Medicine for his internship and residency training. He then went on to The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for Fellowship program in Orbital Surgery, where he remained after his training as an Adjunct Professor at the Wilmer Institute. And spent an additional year with Dr. Jack Kennerdell in Pittsburgh for his Oculoplastic and facial surgery. While at The Johns Hopkins Hospital he was very active in basic science laboratory research and in teaching residents and fellows where he received the Resident Teaching Award.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Monsul remains active in scientific research throughout his career. In addition to Co-Founding Hawthorne Clinic and Research Center, Dr. Monsul is Co-Founder of Quorum Innovations LLC, a microbiome discovery company. Consisting of the trillions of microbes living on and responsible for the health of the human body, the human microbiome is widely considered to be one of this century’s most promising drug discovery sources and clinical applicability. In addition to being a consultant for surgical instrumentation companies, he is a frequent lecturer national and international conferences on the importance and clinical relevance of the human microbiome. His training as a physician-scientist continues in his present day professional life. Dr. Monsul is married to Eva Berkes, M.D. They have three lovely children together and they enjoy bike riding, traveling and playing soccer.
